An introductory overview of critical appraisal, including a practical session appraising a randomised control study (RCT) paper. Learn how to appraise authoritative healthcare research effectively and efficiently, to support patient care, service improvement, research, professional development, and coursework.
The session will be led by Chloe Turner, the new Primary Care Librarian for Derbyshire. The session will last around 1.5 hours, including time for discussion and practical exercises
Participants will:
· Have a better understanding of what critical appraisal is and why it is important
· Be aware of the hierarchy of evidence
· Have been introduced to a set of critical appraisal tools
· Feel more confident in appraising articles effectively
