This is a great opportunity to find out about services to support people with type 2 diabetes. You will also be able to discuss your role in supporting people with type 2 diabetes with those in other roles.

Course overview: 

This online event aims to enhance life-style support that pharmacy professionals give to people with type 2 diabetes when new medicines are initiated.

On completion of this learning, you should be able to:

  • Describe local weight management support options that you can sign-post patients to in Derbyshire
  • Describe the CPPE resources that are available to support you in consultations with people who have new medicines for type 2 diabetes.
  • Demonstrate how you can include information on lifestyle services in a consultations with a patient with newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes.

 

What will I learn?

This during this event Dr Kriss Owen, who is the diabetes GP lead for Derbyshire will run a “Dragon’s Den” style sessions where local NHS funded weight management services will pitch their offer. CPPE tutor and pharmacist Emma Anderson will give you information on CPPE and key external resources to support you to find the information that you need efficiently 

This event will support healthcare professionals with conversations about type 2 diabetes and lifestyle for example during conversations about new medicines in general practice and community pharmacy or prior to hospital discharge.
