  • The pathophysiology of heart failure, the signs and symptoms and the different classifications
  • The investigations required to help reach a diagnosis of heart failure

  • Module 2: Symptomatic Chronic Heart Failure – First line evidence-based treatment options
  • Review the pathophysiology of heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) and relate this to the pharmacology of different heart failure therapies
  • Be aware of the trajectory of HFrEF and the importance of medical therapies
    for improving outcomes
  • Understand national and European guidance for pharmacological management of HFrEF
  • Evaluate the benefits and considerations of the four main pillars of HFrEF therapy:
    ACE inhibitors/ARBs/ARNIs, β-blockers, MRAs, SGLT2 inhibitors
  • Use case studies to build understanding and help put theory into practice

 

  • Module 3: Symptomatic Chronic Heart Failure – Second line evidence-base treatment options.
  • Review the pathophysiology and trajectory of heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) and recall the importance of pharmacological therapies for improving patient outcomes
  • Review national and European guidance for the pharmacological management of HFrEF, specifically options after first-line treatments
  • Understand how different pharmacological management options can help people with HFrEF and know when and how to consider prescribing each
  • Use case studies to build understanding and help put theory into practice

 

 

Education will be delivered based upon the principles of interactive learning, including case studies to provide a practical basis for learning and enhance improvements in clinical practice.
