This one day course will provide information on women’s health concerns commonly presenting in primary care including how to manage and when to refer. This day of education is relevant for any primary care healthcare professional who is interested in learning more about women’s health.
The learning outcomes are to:
- Understand the menstrual cycle.
- Be able to recognise the common causes of ‘bleeding’ problems and gain an understanding of the relevant investigations and management in primary care.
- Understand the causes of polycystic ovary syndrome and fertility problems, the investigations and support to be offered and when referral is indicated.
- Be able to support women with urinary incontinence by recognising the causes, supporting with lifestyle advice and knowing when to refer.
- Appreciate the various types of prolapse and ways to manage in primary care.
- Understand the 5 different gynae cancers including; appreciating risk factors, how they present, and referral recommendations and pathways.
