Infection prevention and control (IPC) is one of the major areas in the provision of safe care within any general practice and also one of the priorities in any CQC inspection. 

 

As part of our online session, you will learn about what CQC are looking for including:

·       Effective IPC Policy and Procedures

·       Knowing who your IPC lead is and what they do

·       Your IPC audit programme

·       Staff Training

·       Access to occupational Health

 

At the end of the session, you will be confident in what you need to know for your CQC inspection.

 

​​​​​​As well as understanding the CQC requirements, you will learn the following:

 

·       Hand washing

·       Audit – what, how often and approved tools.

·       Sharps - storage, what goes in which box, when to change boxes even if they aren’t full. Safe storage.

·       Clinical waste – what in which colour bags and again safe storage.

·       Cleaning schedules

·       Fridge cleaning - how often?

·       How to audit your building.

·       Legionella testing – how often

·       COSHH folders what should it cover and what information it should contain
