Information for applicants (and practice assessors)
Non-medical prescribing is a professionally regulated course, so you need to provide evidence of meeting the professional requirements along with your University application. The professional entry requirements are assessed through an additional PDF form: the "Pre-admission portfolio" which needs to be uploaded to your University of Derby online application or sent by email to: [email protected] Required evidence includes:
- The Applicant:
- a. A minimum of 1-year post-registration clinical experience (NMC PIN)
- b. Practice experience details re: clinical competence (Personal statement / line manager sign-off)
- c. Pre-admission calculations test - 100%
- Practice Assessor:
- a. Confirmation of a suitably qualified Practice Assessor (e.g. DMP)
- b. If an NMP - they must undertake training and be verified by their manager
- c. All practice assessors should attend an update about the NMP course
- Practice Supervisor (Nurses only)
- a. Can be any professional who is a prescriber in the same area of practice
- b. In exceptional circumstance, the assessor can also be the supervisor
- Line Manager: confirmation of applicants':
- a. Up-to-date DBS (within 3 years of the course start)
- b. Appropriate knowledge, skills, experience
- c. Organisational support
- d. Placement governance: current placement / educational audit
