Dementia Awareness for GPs course aims to further explore the impact of dementia from a person-centred perspective, as well as the wider impact it will have to the family of the person living with dementia.

In this workshop, learners are able to examine how they communicate and connect with a person living with dementia, and how they can offer better support – including on a person’s visit to a GP practice.

The modules covered in this course include:

• The impact of dementia on the brain

• How dementia impacts day to day life

• How the symptoms of dementia can impact a person’s experience of the GP environment

• Communication techniques to support patients affected by dementia
